Study Of Poems On Failure In The Imperial Examination Of The Tang Dynasty

The dissertation mainly discusses the Poems on failure in the imperial examinations of the Tang dynasty, and the aim is to understand comprehensively the imperial examination system of Tang Dynasty and its culture.Poems on failure in imperial examinations reflect the events of the failure in the imperial examinations and the behavior, action and the psychological state of those who failed the imperial examinations. In order to have a comprehensive and deep understanding of the facts of the imperial examinations and the talents selection of Tang Dynasty, the dissertation adopts the research method of proving each other between the poems and the historic references.To reach the aim, the dissertation has done the following research of the six steps:Firstly, the dissertation introduces the general situation of imperial examination of the Tang Dynasty;Secondly, we explore some unusual causes that some of the candidates failed in the imperial examination;Thirdly, we describe the diverse emotions of those who failed in the imperial examination;Fourthly, we describe the main activities and actions that those failure candidates took;Fifthly, we describe the diverse life directions of those failure candidates took;Lastly, we generalize some humanism policies by the Tang government to be concerned about those failure candidates. Although very few, they took the lead to perfect the imperial examinations.
