"Morning Post Supplement"is one of the most influential"four major supplements"in the May 4th period in China. It played an important role in the history of the May 4th new culture's communication. As a supplement which has the turning significance of the modern Chinese literary supplement of the newspaper in modern Chinese history, it did not only make the May 4th new spirit of the Enlightenment literature continue, consolidate and develop, but also provided Chinese Modern Literature changing from the"literary revolution"to the"revolutionary literature"by a public discourse transition space and dissemination Carrier and had a profound impact right in the initial period of modern development of the Chinese novel. But in the past, it seems that the role"Morning Post Supplement"played and its significance in modern Chinese fiction have not caused the researchers'full concern.Based on the"Morning Post Supplement"as the basic research object and starting point, my article is in great effort to the overall grasp of the reduction of 1920s landscape of modern Chinese literature and the original ecological literature scene. The article intends to elucidate and demonstrate the significant functions in terms of Chinese novel's modernization based on the"Morning Post Supplement"headstart status in modern fiction,"Morning Post Supplement"influence in the establishment and achievements of modern Chinese fiction, and the"Morning Post Supplement"contributions to the modern Chinese fiction theoretical research, translation and introduction. In the process of the study, this article continues the previous researchers'method of dividing the"Morning Post Supplement"into three stages based on the editors'succession, considers the"Morning Post Supplement"evolution in the history, and draws conclusions based on commanding and clearing off the specific texts and literary phenomena with the necessary sorting-out, summing-up and selecting of the typical novels.This article's innovation lies in that it makes a comprehensive introduction to the works and literary events that have not been discussed in previous research through deep exploration into the historical documents about"Morning Post Supplement"so that the literary context and fiction evolution thoroughly depicted and analyzed and the deep-rooted interaction between the"Morning Post Supplement"and Chinese modern fictions revealed.
