Cultural mentality refers to a state of mind of cultural perceivers towards. This paper mainly explores reasons why Tunpu-culture in Guizhou came into being and has been passed on (from generation to generation) and also, based on the case, this paper draws a conclusion that cultural mentality of cultural perceivers plays an essential role in cultural inheritance and meanwhile points out a viewpoint that cultural mentality of self-esteem and self-confidence is the inherent driving force for ultural inheritance. In addition to the part of introduction and conclusion, the paper can roughly be divided into four parts.The part of introduction mainly expounds the research developments of Tunpu-Culture in Guizhou these more than ten years and its main research methods adopted here, meanwhile the author gives several key terms definitions, such as"Culture","cultural perceivers","Cultural mentality", etc.In the introduction, the writer maily elaborates on the researches of Tunpu-Culture and introduces the research approaches in this paper, also the writer gives the definitions of several terminology, such as culture, community, community mentality, and so on.In the first part,"On Reasons For the Formation of Tunpu-Culture", the author gives a brief introduction to the main contents of Tunpu-Culture and holds that Tunpu-culture is a regional culture with its distinct local characteristics which develops in a specially appointed historical setting, radiating in all directions from Anshun, Guizhou and containing varieties of contents, such as representative stone buildings, distinct clothes, ornaments, language, folk customs, cooking culture, folk arts, religion culture and so on. Also, this part examines reasons for the formation of the Tunpu-Culture, assuming that cultural mentality of self-esteem and self-confidence and the intense sense of cultural identity: self-esteem and self-confidence of people of Tunpu to show towards their own culture (Han culture of Zhongyuan) and their impossibility to acknowledge the relatively underdeveloped local culture of ethnic minority are the most important factors to help bring its production, development and inherence of till today to fruition.In the second part,"Cultural Mentality of People of Tunpu", the author examines changes of Tunpunese cultural mentality in the sequence of time: Tunpunese cultural mentality was arrogant and self-confident at Ming Dynasty; Tunpunese cultural mentality changed from self-abased into conceited at Qing Dynasty and during the period of Republic of China. But their cultural mentality has been irresolute since 1949.In the third part,"Current Situation of Inheritance About Tunpu-Culture", the author focuses on the relationship between cultural mentality and cultural inheritance and points out that self-esteem and self-confidence of cultural mentality have been giving great impetus to the inheritance and development of traditional culture which contribute to the inherent driving force for traditional cultural inheritance and development; Instead, self-abased cultural mentality is a big obstacle to the inheritance and development of traditional culture as well as its considerable inherent resistance. Then the author delineates the current living environment of Tunpu-Culture from two aspects: natural habitat and cultural habitat. The author ends the part by elaborating on the current situation of inheritance of Tunpu-Culture.The final part closes with elaborating on the protection of Tunpu-Culture and the author's personal suggestions and ideas: the most essential lies in the intensification of education of self-esteem and self-confidence of people of Tunpu towards the traditional culture to make every people of Tunpu realize the significance and excellence of community culture and develop their self-esteemed and self-confident cultural mentality.The concluding part reaffirms the viewpoint that cultural mentality of self-esteem and self-confidence is an inherent driving force for cultural inheritance.
