Before the World WarⅡ, Nikkei in Latin America hadn't been assimilated and syncretized into the local society very well. From the aspects of Nikkei and the receiver-countries, this dissertation, taking Peruvian-Nikkei and Brazilian-Nikkei for example, tries to deeply study various reasons of their low-assimilation. In the view of Nikkei ,with the sojourner mentality—earning enough money and returning Japan, most of them would not like to contact with the local society actively, which restricted their assimilation psychologically. In addition, with the help of the Japanese government, group-immigration and group-settlement facilitated them to establish their own communities and associations, which provided the subjective substance for their isolated and independent group-life, and at some extent, reduced their necessity of participating into the mainstream society. From the aspect of Latin America, 1900s' whitening-race ideology and 1920s-1930s' anti-Japanese racial sentiment deteriorated the social environment of Nikkei's assimilation. This study has both theoretical and realistic value. First, theoretically, the factors, which affect the assimilation, should be the mental and substantial condition in the Nikkei and local society interactive course. Second, realistically, before the World WarⅡ, the reason why Nikkei suffered from a lot of oppression has something to do with their passive attitude to syncretization., which tells cross-national immigrants how to get along with the local society.
