The commons often reflect the universal law and theoretical value of human art. The different styles of art,which reveal the same artistic creativity and artistic development, only for the arts between various ethnic groups provide a broad space for mutual communication. Comparative study is widely used in the study of art, through a comparative study, which enhance the understanding of art's painting materials and painting techniques and promote the comprehensive development of the art of painting.Based on the history of Chinese landscape painting and Western landscape painting, cultural background, the philosophical foundation, forms and other areas systematic comparative study. Our research indicates that the Chinese landscape painting and western landscape painting have obvious similarities from the origin, while its development ways, performance ways, philosophy background, drawing principle are quiet different. It is valuable for seeking and inquiring common rules and drawing essence in the similarities and differences of artistic phenomenon, which have no relationship from each other. The differences may help us to understand the mystery of the two art paintings from different angles, and promote two paintings mutual learning and fast development. Meanwhile, the traditional Chinese and western painting's expression characteristics have many similarities and dissimilarities. Both of them do not get rid of the objective reality, it need pay more attention to the physical image description.
