Ersu Tibetan ethnic group is located in the Xiao Liangshan area of southwestern Sichuan. At the eastern boundary of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, the Han and Tibetan culture converge. With modern cultural impact and mutual exchange, the unique history and culture of Ersu Tibetan ethnic group are on the brink of gradual extinction.Ersu Tibetan ethnic group in Xieluo (hereafter referred to as Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group) live at the riverside of the Songlin River, a first class branch of the Dadu River. Situated in the deep canyon, the place seems remote with inconvenient transportation, thus Ersu Tibetan ethnic group's culture and tradition are in good preservation. Up to the present, however, the attention from the academia has not been paid to the history and culture of the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group.As the exclusive ethnic culture in the Tibetan and Yi Nationality Corridor, the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group's history and culture will be great significance in the in-depth research of the diversity and uniqueness of the Corridor.Based on the fieldwork and relevant historical data, this thesis aims at a preliminary attempt to examine the rarely known Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group's history and culture. This paper plans to, by utilizing the research methods of historical study and ethnography, describe and elaborate on the panorama and origin of the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group, briefly tracing its source. This thesis is composed of four parts. The first part, the foreword, briefly introduces the topic choice, the study's situation, current research and academic value etc. ;The second part outlines the historical and geographical environment in which the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group is located; The third part, mainly based on fieldwork, presents a panoramic description of the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group, demonstrating its basic situation and cultural visage; The fourth part explores, from the history angle, the historical origin and evolution of chieftain of Song lindi, hoping revealing the historical visage of the Xieluo Tibetan ethnic group.
