the paper have four parts which aims at discussing Ben-Mo idea in the Spring-Autumn and the Warring Stated period and clarifies it's developmental context in that period. The first part traces back the historical origins of Ben-Mo idea and thinks that it srarted from the idea of Ben-Zhi in Shijing. The second part holds that the Ben-Mo is a common discourse formed in the Spring-Autumn period, which can be argued from two aspects. The first aspect is that sums up and analyses the Ben-Mo ideas in Zuozhuan and GuoYu which are thought the most important historical materials of that period. The second aspect is to define the forms of the Ben-Mo discourse which can be understand from three perspectives. The third part of paper examines various Ben-Mo ideas which were put forward by the knowledge classes such as the Dao, the Confucian, the Mo, the Fa school in that period. Through summing up and analyzing these Ben-Mo ideas, this part attempts to disclose which and how so many viewpoints were come into the vision of Ben-Mo debaters related the questions of mankind themselves and the society by the people of that times, namely which one is thought the Ben and which one is considered the Mo and the relationship between each other. Meanwhile, it also comparisons the Ben-Mo ideas by different schools from the horizontal perspective and discusses their course of change and development from the vertical perspective. The fourth part discusses the relevance between Ben-Mo ideas and the social background of that time. At the last, the paper expounds the influence of Ben-Mo idea in the Spring-Autumn and the Warring States period on the later ages and point out its historical meaning.
