This paper focuses on the bricks with flower patterns and figures in tombs of The Six Dynasties, Nanjing . This paper gives the division of types and patterns of bricks with flower patterns and figures via using typology first and basing on it, makes out the research of phases and, consequently, tries to find out the evolutive rule of bricks with flower patterns and figures in each phase.In this part, the foreword results of former research about bricks with flower patterns and figures are introduced briefly. The point of view in this paper is indicated as well. The range of the referenced material and the meaning of the research in this paper are narrated finally.In the first part, bricks with flower patterns and that with figures are defined first of all.
