Reduplication Of Numerals,Quantifiers,Quantitative Words And Phrases

The verbs, adjectives and nouns are the major points in the research of Chinese reduplication. Otherwise,the quantifiers, numerals and classifiers are less important until last 80s.It is admitted by the academia that there are four kinds of reduplication of numerals, but in my opinion, ABAB is also a kind of numeral reduplication, apart from AA, AABB, AAB, ABB. Through the analyses of these five forms, we determine the syntactic function and grammatical rhetorical meaning.It is important for the research of the reduplication of the numeral.Through the direct collection to 460 classifiers which have confirmed signs in Present Chinese Dictionary, we restrict the devision of classifiers and quantitative words and phrases strictly. From this method, we make sure that there are 3 kinds of reduplication: AA,一AA,一AABB.Through the analyses and summary,we induce their syntactic functions, and then determine their grammatical rhetorical meanings.The research of quantitative words and phrases disconfuses the blurs from classifier reduplication. we believe that there are only the kinds of reduplication of quantitative words and phrase:一A一A,ABAB,一AX一A,一A一AX一A,一ANX一AN. The former two are completely quantitative words and phrases reduplication, the others are incomplete. On the basis of these two forms,we can induce their syntactic function and grammatical rhetorical meaning.
