At present,the cultural bases of students in secondary health schools are different.Under the Great Uniform(treating a class of students as one student)of the traditional classroom teaching pattern,it's impossible for students of the same class to achieve full developments and to improve their English wholly and effectively.Facing secondary health school students' diversity,teachers should master advanced educational theories and adopt better teaching methods to help students achieve good results in English learning.The literature research shows that the graded teaching pattern respects the students' differences and bases on the students' developments.According to the graded teaching,the students in different levels not only can make some progress in English learning,but also their interests in English can be improved.The rationale for this study is zone of proximal development theory,mastery learning theory,the theory of multiple intelligences and Krashen' s input hypothesis and affective filter hypothesis.128 female students from two classes in Tianshui Health School are selected as the subjects of this study.The instruments are test-papers,a questionnaire and CS2000 statistics software.This study lasts for 10 months and investigates the effects of the graded teaching on English teaching in secondary health school.The results shows that the graded teaching not only can improve students' performance on English achievement tests and interest in English learning,but also control the polarization efficiently.The important inspiration is that teachers should construct the pattern of the graded teaching,including grading students,teaching objectives, teaching activities,assignments and evaluation,to make all students gain improvement according to their achievements and interests.This thesis includes six parts:The first part analyzes the present situation of English teaching in secondary health school and discusses the purposes and the significances of this study;The second part is the literature review,which summarizes the situation and main achievements of the grade teaching in China and abroad.;The third part states that the rationale for this study;The fourth part states the design plan and procedures of this study.The purpose of the graded teaching is to make all students gain improvements,so the construction of the graded teaching model includes grading students,teaching objectives,teaching activities,assignments and evaluation; The fifth part is data analysis and discussion;The sixth part makes a conclusion and states the limitations in the experiment and also offers some suggestions for further study.
