Secondary education is the basic step for quality education. It is helpful in improving schools, families and society to emphasis on Mental Health Education to study mental health of impoverished students in Urban secondary schools. Compared with ordinary students, middle stage of the poor students in mental confusion and obstacles, the situation is more serious. Therefore, conduct a survey on mental health and then make correct countermeasures is very important. The survey using measurement tools including Mental Health Test (MHT),the self-made family investigation table and the concept of poverty investigation table focused on impoverished students in secondary schools of the city of Nanchang.We had conducted a scientific analysis among 500 junior high students in Nanchang.The survey indicates that the rate of students from poverty-stricken families who had mental health problems is 2.8% higher than the students from non-poverty-stricken families. In addiction, at least one issue, there are 60.8% of poverty-stricken students who had various levels of mental health problems. So, the psychological status of impoverished students in urban secondary schools is not optimistic. We also discovered that not more than 10% of impoverished students feel ashamed, anxiety, lonely because of poor and they think that poverty effect their social intercourse, study and future. There are more than 50% of impoverished students think their study opportunities are more valuable and they are stronger because of poor. This attitude is pleasing.After the analysis of the psychological status of impoverished students and their attitude, we discovered that there is a considerable connection between anxiety and their concept of poverty.Through the research ,it founds that own factor and the suggestion factor cause mental health problems of the impoverished student. In view of the characteristic of mental health of impoverished students in urban secondary schools, we advise that make the education rescue policy to be the social welfare policy, strengthen the education administration measure as well as Mental Health Education.
