After the Second Opium War, the western Protestant missions landed Sichuan in succession. Around 1920, the number of female missionary had surpassed greatly the number of male missionary in Sichuan, the ratio was 3 to 2. So to speak, the Christian service in Szechwan had in touch with the female missionaries' activities.Using "the West China Missionary News" as the main reference and supplemented by other historical documents in this paper, the women missionaries' contribution to Modern Sichuan and historical limitations are discussed in detail. First women missionaries' background to China is discussed according to the historical background of international, national and local Modern Sichuan on the official launch. Secondly, the paper will discuss female missionaries' identity aims and guidance to China .This part includes the number of women missionaries in China, the proportion family origin, education, objectives and guiding ideology. Thirdly, the paper will discuss women missionaries' cause in detail in Sichuan, including sermon cause, educational cause, medical cause and charities. Finally, the paper will conclude social contributions and historical limitations from the female missionaries' the cause in Sichuan.From the view of Modern history. Sichuan area covers Sichuan Province,Chongqing as well as the areas between Sichuan and the boundary Provinces.The topic of this includes these areas,mainly concentrating on Sichuan Provinces.And the time ranges from the First Opium War to the 1940s,which is a bit longer than the period time in modern history.(1840-1919)...
