With the progress of science and technology, the changes of educational concepts and the deepening of education reform, China's education informatization achieved rapid development. As an important resource of promoting education informatization, multimedia teaching software has developed rapidly, with increasing variety of types and accelerated frequency of the combination with the teaching process.English, as the world's most widely used language and its importance become more prominent in the economic globalization trend. In our country, more and more people learn English. The English teaching software occupies a significant share in China's whole educational software market, but it's mostly confined to children English, college public English, vocabulary learning, listening exercises and other fields which have large user groups, and the teaching software for courses teaching of college English major is much fewer.With the actual teaching demand of English majors'intensive courses in Foreign Languages College in our university, the research will be located in the course teaching software for college English majors. In the process of realization of the specific example, the author put forward general principles and methods of design and development of course teaching software for college English majors. These principles and methods have universal guiding significance to the design and development of course teaching software for college English majors. After realization of the specific example, the author put it into trial, and make a preliminary assessment through evaluation information, so as to better guide the design and development of course teaching software.This paper can be divided into the following chapters:In the first chapter, the author introduces the background to choose this topic and analyzes its significance at first. Secondly, relevant concepts are defined. Thirdly, the status quo at home and abroad of teaching software, in particular the status quo of China's English teaching software are reviewed. In light of the status quo of the courses teaching for college English majors, the author raises questions. At last,the author concludes the major work of this paper, including study objects, contents and research methods.In the second chapter, the author states the guiding significance of the relevant theory, the basis of design and development of course teaching software for college English majors.In the third chapter, the general principles and methods of design and development of course teaching software for college English majors have been stated in detail in the process of realization of the specific example.In the fourth chapter, the author puts the course teaching software which has been realized into the preliminary test. After that, the author carries on the questionnaire survey, and makes the preliminary appraisal through the experimental and questionnaire data to this teaching software.In the end, Chapter 5 undertakes an overall summary of what the author has done, and forecast the following relevant study.
