The legends of Tang Dynasty are the radiant pearls in Chinese literature history, whose narrative art is praised in particular. The narrative art of the legends of Tang Dynasty mainly displays in following four aspects:First, the narrative angles of view of the legends of Tang Dynasty are bountiful and flexible, which mainly contain the following four forms: the entire-knowledge angle of view, the inferior-knowledge angle of view, the side-knowledge angle of view and the self-awareness angle of view. The entire-knowledge angle of view is that the narrator is at the omniscient and omnipotent position, which is utilized the most extensively in the legends of Tang Dynasty, such as "Gu Jing Records", "Yingying's Story", "Liyi's Story" written by Wang Du and so on. The inferior-knowledge angle of view is that the story-teller is appointed to the specific observer of the whole show, such as "Nanke Satrap's Story", "Famous Story of Tang Dynasty", "Qin Meng Records" and so on. The side-knows the angle of view is that the secondary character's view is used as the specific observation angle, as in "Gu Yue Du Jing" written by Li Gongzuo. Self-awareness angle of view is that the story-teller is the main actor. The works involved this kind angle of view also use the first person, which usually use "Yu", "Pu" and so on as the name terminology, as in "The travel in Zhou and Qing", "Travel through the fairy caves" written by Niu Sengru and so on. Furthermore, a work may also involves many kinds of angle of views, used interactively, as in "The Stories of Ms Shen" written by Shen Ji Ji, which is the example of the interactive use of the entire knowledge angle of view and the inferior knowledge angle of view.Second, the narrative structure of the legends of Tang Dynasty has two characters: type and pattern. The narrative structure of the legends of Tang Dynasty mainly contains three ones: the vertical structure, horizontal structure, vertically and horizontally overlapping structure. The vertical structure is utilized the most in the legends of Tang Dynasty, which embodies two forms: One is establishing things in time; two is establishing the stories according to the storylines. The former is as in "GuJing's Story", the latter is as in "Liyi's Story". Horizontal structure, that is, to arrange the storylines according to arrangements in space, the composition of the story or the question of characters, as in "Three Dreams" written by Bai Xingjian. The vertically and horizontally overlapping structure means a work both has the vertical structure and the horizontal structure, the two interact each other. While both does not appear chaotic, because it involves the primary and secondary order: taking horizontally structure primarily, while vertical structure as auxiliary, or vice versa, as in "Liwa's Story" written Bai Xingjian. The narrative structure pattern of the legends of Tang Dynasty mainly displays in: . the title pattern, which is taking the name of the main character in the story as the title; the opening pattern, which means taking the character's name as the start, thus introduces the time, place and the conduct, etc. of his behavior. The ending has three kinds of narrative patterns: The first is to comment the recorded characters and the matters connected, while express the author's view and indicate his manner. The second is to explain the reasons and the processes of author's writing this legend in order to enhance the authenticity and reliability of the story. The third is to take on the context, and tell the whole story, but not make any comments.Third, the narrative technique of the legends of Tang Dynasty is richly colorful, precise and appropriate. The legends of Tang Dynasty mainly utilize the actual condition method, the relaxation method, the density method, the modulation method, gathered-separated method and so on. While in the narrative process the legends also utilize a lot of literary contrivance, such as quotation, exaggeration and so on. The actual condition method is as in "The stories of Ms Ren" written by Shen Jiji, and the relaxation method is as in "Gone With the Smoke" written by Huangfu Mei, and density method is as in "Yingying's Story" written by Yuan Zhen, "Liwa's Story" written by Bai Xingjian and so on. The modulation method is as in "Liwa's Story", "The Man With a Big Beard"(wants to raise damps first) and "Gone With the Smoke", "Chang Hen Zhuan"(wants to damp raises first). The gathered-separated method is as in "Liyi's Story"," Liwa's Story" and so on.It is a profound annotation of the narrative technique of the legends of Tang Dynasty to use the narration, flashback, narration interposed, make-up narration etc. ingeniously. Narration is the most basic and frequently-used method in the legends of Tang Dynasty, such as "Gu Jing's Story" written by Wang Du. Flashback is as in "Three Dreams" written by Bai Xingjian. Narration interposed is as in "The Stories of Ms Ren" written by Shen Jiji. Make-up narration is as in "Liu Yi's Story" written by Li Chaowei. While there are also a lot of works used these methods interactively. The successful application of these rhetoric techniques has increased many bright colors for the legends of Tang Dynasty, as the quotation technique in "Li Zhangwu's Story", the exaggeration technique in "Gu Yue Du Jing" written by Li Gongzuo; both are very excellent.Fourth, the language rhyme of the legends of Tang Dynasty is brief and implicative, the dialogue description is prominent as well. The legends of Tang Dynasty have inserted massive verses, such as poems, odes, antithetical style, which enable them to have the obvious poem tendency and rich lyric feature, as in "Yingying's Story", "the Song of Eternal Sorrow", "Wang Huanzhi" and so on. The narrative language of the legends of Tang Dynasty is brief, clear, implicative and with abundant morals, such as "Huo Xiaoyu's Story", "Ma Daifeng" and so on. The legends of Tang Dynasty are also good at using the dialogues to portray the characters' images, display the characters and motivate the plot of story, as in "Yingying's Story" written by Yuan Zhen, "Liwa's Story" written by Bai Xingjian etc.The excellent narrative art of the legends of Tang Dynasty has established an important status in the Chinese literature history, which is worthy of the fair name: The mature symbol of the Chinese ancient times' literary style novel.
