The Agricultural Improvement Office Of Sichuan Province In The Anti-Japanese War

In the period of Anti-Japanese War, a agricultural improvement office was constructed in Sichuan province in order to help recover and reconstruct the rural economy and improve the grain, animals and other rural products. As the most important part of rear areas, Sichuan's agricultural improvement office also took the responsibilities of civil and military supplies to struggle against the Japanese invaders.The thesis attempts to reconstruct the history of the office and its work by discussing its general administrative systems and movements so that we can get better understanding its contributions in the special period of the Anti-Japanese War.The thesis is mainly made up of four parts .The fist part tells us that the office was an outcome of the Anti-Japanese War as well as the result of cooperation nine little offices before the Anti-Japanese by analyzing Sichuan's agricultural situation before the office having been constructed and the office's systems when the office had been constructed .The other three parts mainly discuss the positive effects of the office's improvement as well as point out its evil inherent by representing the general situation of the administrative systems,the government's strategies and tactics and the office's work respectively.Finally, the author draws a conclusion that not only did Sichuan agricultural improving movements have some positive effects on developing its rural economy and help the farmers to add up to their agricultural products ,but also it made some contributions to China's victory against invaders. To a certain extent ,it had changed the traditional form and structure of Sichuan's agriculture, so it was an important try in the course of Sichuan's agricultural improving movements and its implementation also had a great impact on the descendent agricultural improvement .However, it also had its own limitations for not being able to realize that shortcomings of its administrative systems and improving movements had bad effects to farmers'profit of economy. So it could not thoroughly solve the serious agricultural problems especially the problem that agricultural products'growth could not bring the profitable increasement of the economy of the farmers.
