The Enforcement Of Military Policy In Sichuan Province During The Anti-Japanese War

When the anti-Japanese war broke up, Kuo Min Tang government had to adjust its policies on foreign affairs, military, politics and economy, ect, to meet the needs of the modern war. In order to get more manpower, the Kuo Min Tang government changed its mercenary system into the conscription system. This policy suits for the development of the modern war, and it was a great step for the modernization of Chinese military system. Furthermore, the government also made a lot of related policies and measures to ensure the enforcement of the conscription system.After the war was locked in a stalemate, Sichuan province was made as the important rear defensive base as well as one of the big manpower resources output provinces. Sichuan made a great sacrifice to support the replenishment of the soldiers for the front. Especially in the latter part of the war, massive intellectuals in Sichuan volunteered to join in the army, which enhanced the fighting ability of Chinese army and encouraged the whole nation to defeat the enemy. So there was a saying that no Sichuan no army!This thesis analyzes the great influence of the reformation of the system of military service during anti-Japanese war from four aspects: (1) the making of the military policy of Kuo Min Tang government; (2) the enforcement of the military policy in Sichuan Province; (3) the massive movement of young intellectuals as volunteers in the latter part of the anti-Japanese war; (4) the influence of the enforcement of the military policy in Sichuan Province. According to the discussion, the author wants to prove that the information of the system of the military service was a right tactics for Kuo Min Tang government during the wartime. Furthermore,the author still wants to prove that Sichuan Province has made a great sacrifice and played an important role in the war.It's no doubt that there existed a lot of defects and malpractices during the enforcement of the wartime military service due to the class nature of the Kuo Min Tang government. Nevertheless, this change of the military policy was the guarantee for the victory of the anti-Japanese war, so it was an advanced step that made by Kuo Min Tang government during its power time.
