The foreigner-concerning tourism translation has been more and more popular in the field of translation. However, various problems emerged and are emerging in the tourism English translation practice. As long as the native tourism culture enters the foreign one, its English version uses the domesticating translation or hybridizing translation to certain degree, no matter what strategy the translator adopts. On the one hand, the translator may fail to master the features, strategies and their effects of the tourism translation; on the other hand, there may even be problems in his/her standpoint and attitude towards the translation and introduction of Chinese culture.In allusion to the mistakes and improperness in the past tourism textual translation and to its tendency of domestication and hybridization, this paper aims to expatiate on the cross-cultural consciousness of the foreigner-concerning tourism translation, on the necessity of foreignization and its concrete strategies and techniques, and on the operation of practical translation. The theory basis that the paper mainly adopts is the foreignizing translation /foreignization theory by American translation theorist Lawrence Venuti.The cultural and lingual diversities determine that the cross-cultural consciousness is the basis of the foreigner-concerning tourism translation,the cultural facsimile is the basic principle, and the foreignization is the basic strategy. The main points the paper mainly discusses are as follows: (1) The influence of the cross-cultural consciousness on the tourism language and its translation; (2) the necessity and the feasibility of the foreignizing strategy of the foreign-concerning tourism material, from the viewpoints of cultural diversity and of the decolonization; (3) the theoretical introduction of the criterions, strategies and techniques of the tourism foreignizing translation; (4) the argumentation of the operation and practice of the foreigner-concerning tourism textual translation with large numbers of practical examples, which in contrast, shows that the said criterions, strategies and techniques are multi-elementary, mutual-beneficial and dependent on the concrete conditions. The translator should make a comprehensive view on the theoretical basis and then consider what translation method or technique to be adopted.In the process of concrete translation, the relation of theory, knowledge background and technique/method is mutual-connected, so the translator must keep considering from all points of view and determine among the many choices. The translator of the tourism material is expected to lucubrate how to apply the foreignization theory into the translation practice of the cultural tourism for more ideal version that better satisfies the need to introduce Chinese cultural tourism outside. Through a series of dissertation and illumination with examples, the paper aims to sparkplug the foreignization strategy of the foreigner-concerning tourism translation, and thus to arouse the localization consciousness of China's cultural status, to spread the national culture and to strive for the speaking right in the world.
