The reform of secondary vocational education curriculum is an important part of the education reform and it is also a systematic task. Starting with the teaching objectives of secondary vocational schools, we try to reform curriculum development, curriculum model, curriculum contents, course books, teaching tools and methods of teaching. This thesis will sum up the present situation and problems of English teaching in tourism major of secondary vocational schools, re-examine the position and functions of English teaching. I analyse the teaching objectives,curriculum contents, methods of teaching and curriculum evaluation, simultaneously study the relative theories of curriculum model and the general course about curriculum development in tourism major of secondary vocational schools. Finally I make some suggestions for the reform direction of English teaching. The author of the thesis has been engaged in English teaching in Secondary Vocational School for many years. From many years'teaching and graduates'feedbacks, the author finds that the curriculum at present is not able to meet the requirements of the graduates under present economic situation. In order to meet the requirements for teaching theories refomation and suggestions of the country and to overcome the present shortcomings, by combining students'reality of the school and relative theories of education and pedagogy, and consulting lots of China and foreign countries materials of English teaching of tourism major in secondary vocational schools, the author has made some investigations in English teaching, and put forward some suggestions.
