With the development of foreign-related tourism, the tourism market has an increasing demand for talents who have both English language skills and professional knowledge and skills in tourism. At present,my country's secondary vocational schools have successively set up "Tourism English" courses, aiming to cultivate a group of compound talents that meet the needs of today's tourism industry. However, what is the status of this course? Can secondary vocational students adapt to future jobs and meet the needs of employers through this course? This is worth thinking and studying. This paper conducts questionnaires and interviews with 164 students majoring in tourism in 3 secondary vocational schools,8 tourism English teachers, and 3 travel agencies. The results of the survey are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. It is found that the current secondary vocational school "Tourism English" Curriculum is still difficult to meet the needs of students' future work and employers. There are problems such as inaccurate course positioning and course goals, course content deviating from the actual work process, course teaching mode lagging, course assessment methods are relatively single, and teachers are weak.In response to the existing problems, this article, guided by the work process-oriented curriculum concept, puts forward the overall concept and ideas of the course design of "Tourism English".It is clear that the course goal of "Tourism English" is to train qualified English tour guide practitioners;on this basis, guided by the concept of work process-oriented curriculum development, the basic idea of curriculum content design is defined as: determine typical work tasks, divide action areas, describe learning areas and then design learning situations. It is important to adopt an action-oriented teaching model, enrich teaching methods, adopt advanced teaching methods. It is necessary to perfect course assessment methods, combining written and oral examinations, equal emphasis on process and results, and diversified evaluation subjects. In addition, this article proposes measures to ensure the implementation of the curriculum, such as providing training venues inside and outside the school, optimizing teaching equipment, strengthening the construction of the teaching staff, and encouraging teachers to develop in the direction of "dual teacher type".Due to the limited number of students, teachers, and employers participating in this research, the research in this article has certain limitations.I hope to test the suggestions made in this research in future work and continue to conduct in-depth research so as to further do a good job in the curriculum design and implementation.
