Each language has its unique temperament. To explore sentence patterns in each language can make us appreciate the originalities of different languages. The deep study on sentence patterns of modern Chinese will produce great influences on developing teaching Chinese to foreigners, adapting to the needs of Artificial Intelligent and Machine Translation, and so on.The study of modern Chinese grammar has includes many studies of Chinese sentence patterns, such as the sentences of "Ba", "Bei", "Shi", and "De". The numerous scholars have revealed the secrets of Chinese special patterns from the different perspectives and make plentiful results. Now, a systemic discussion of it is still lacking, with the only mention of it when theprepositions "Dui", "Duiyu", and"Duiyu......Laishuo"are talked about. Therefore, the present thesis will make an analysis of this special sentence pattern of the "Dui"sentence, with the center of semantics, the surface of syntax, and the aim of pragmatics. There are three chapters in the thesis. The Chapter One is concerned with the structural form of the sentence of "Dui", which focuses on the following three problems: (1) the place of the phrase of "Dui"in sentence is unbalanced. The reasons for this phenomenon are explained from the aspects of syllable, context, etc. (2) the presence and absence of the phrase of "Dui"produce influences on the sentences. (3) the predicate headwords of the phrase "Dui"are very special. The Chapter Two centers on the semantic analysis of the sentence of "Dui", which is started with the semantic modes of the sentence of "Dui". The sentence of "Dui"is classified semantically into two categories of "the directed action sentence"and "the attitudinal appraisal sentence". And thus it can be seen that the semantic category of the sentence of "Dui" has its systematicness, which is built on the real experience mode of mankind. The Chapter Three attempts to study the sentence of "Dui"in the dynamic contexts, and the paragraphs and texts. It points out that the contrastive focus in the dynamic sentences varies according to contexts. The Dui sentence will not exist alone in the texts; and its preceding sentence and following sentence will account for it from different profiles. Besides, the thesis depicts the textual function of the Dui sentence from the Information Theory perspective, and indicates the controlling function, the classifying function, and the topic-switching function of the Dui sentence. The whole thesis is arranged on the three levels of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. These three levels are not separated bluntly in the concrete study. Each chapter has one level as it's nuclear place, and the others secondary places, with the combinations of form and meaning, static description and dynamic analysis. The thesis employs such study methods as exemplification, comparison, involves the theoretical knowledge including the Systemic Functional Grammar, the Semantic Features Analysis, the Cognitive Linguistics, Text Linguistics, Psychology, and attempts to realize the three "sufficiencies": the descriptive sufficiency, the analytic sufficiency, and the explanatory sufficiency.
