"with P, Q" Modern Chinese Sentence

The “sui p, q” sentence is highly-used in spoken Chinese, and “sui” isused as an unconditional conjunction, which can lead theunconditional sentence “p” and its context sentence “q”.As the lecture circuit has not given a clear definition andconcluded the sentences’ features, the thesis attempt to make a deepstudy in syntax, semantics and pragmatics from different aspects. Then,we can grasp the sentence with an overall cognitive. Apart from theintroduction and conclusion, there are several parts in the thesis asfollows:Firstly, we will define the property of “sui” and describe theevolution. The “sui” in “sui p, q” sentence is considered as anunconditional conjunction. In this part, we mainly analyze the syntaxactions from the aspects of breviary and complex form.Secondly, based on aspect of semantic, we will discuss “sui p, q”sentences’ reference constraints, modal particles and the semanticfeatures is the main part. We recognize that the subjective,choosing-meaning is the main semantic aspects.Thirdly, we will analyze the pragmatic functions of “sui p, q”sentence. We will describe in the following three aspects: the choosingof sentence patterns, the pragmatic functions of the pattern (includingthe pragmatic effects, the restriction of context and its characteristicson word order), textual function (including the cohesion way of “sui”,the anaphora function of “p” and pseudo dialogue).Finally, as the two sentence pattern are belong to unconditionalconjunction, we attempt to compare “sui p, q” and “guan p, q”sentence pattern. We think that the most differences between themare reflected in the functions of pragmatic: when compared with “sui p,q” sentence,“guan p, q” convey a more strong emotional function.
