Study On Cultural Conflict Between China And The West In Religion Conflict During Kangxi Emperor Period In Qing Dynasty

The two activities of Western learning's input to China, namely, one was during the end of Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, and the other one was at the end of Qing Dynasty, were the foremost events in culture impact, and the possible chance for the revolution of civilization.During the first activity of Western learning's input to China, there took place a great event, that is, Religion Conflict during Kangxi Emperor Period in early Qing Dynasty. Just as its name implies, this is an international lawsuit which result from calendar. As for Yang Guangxian, the Chinese leading actor in this lawsuit, the opinions all through the ages are almost the same, negative! Yang was regarded as the model to rejected foreign civilization without any reasons, even was scolded as rascal, Babbitt, and so on.Based on the re-unearthing, re-unscrambling and hackling of great amounts of important historical materials, especially Yang Guangxian's work Bu De Yi (one cannot help but must do) and missionaries' replies, this dissertation reckons that the above-mentioned viewpoint is not only disregard of historical facts, especially the proof-chain from fore Nanjing Religion Conflict, sith the argue on comity between China and the West to the emerging of missionaries' real faces after the Opium War, but also disregard of the incommensurable culture context in Religion Conflict during Kangxi Emperor Period, thus, unilateral, wrong even baleful views could be avoided, such as Yang Guangxian was the chief criminal for the fail of modern science and technology "input" from the West to China, and missionaries were nothing but the messengers of civilization, science and advancement.This dissertation points out that, as an organic activity, regardless of individual moral character and learning, its goal is definite, that is, promulgating gospel. In fact, an exploration in thought and culture for the expansion of the West to all over the world, and science is just a knocking brick for their coming into China. Yang Guangxian recognized missionaries' intent, and react on an extremely manner. Yang Guangxian had knocked an alarm bell to all Chinese, and made missionaries so fear that they wanted to collect all of Yang's works with amounts of money in order to destroy the works completely.Therefore, this dissertation is a new study on Religion Conflict during Kangxi Emperor Period by the way of cultural comparison.
