Analysis And Design For Domestic Medical Professional Uniforms

Medical professional uniforms are clothes that medical employees wear during working time. Medical uniforms are professional clothes that carry the roles of functionality, beauty and differentiation. The scope of medical uniforms in this paper includes doctors' daily uniforms, operating coats and nurses' daily uniforms (not include special protective suits).The goal of this paper is to study and analyse on medical uniforms in aspects of functionality, beauty and differentiation roles, and to illustrate methodology on pattern, fabric and color design of medical uniforms.The contribution of this paper is listed below:1) Analyse the evolution history of international medical uniforms and domestic medical uniforms. Summarize typical characteristics of medical uniforms in various historical periods.2) Collect comments and suggestions on traditional medical uniforms from medical employees. Find problems of medical uniforms on functionality, beauty and differentiation that need some design enhancement.3) Based on the data of investigation and interview, this paper classifies the design guildlines to functionality, beauty and differentiation guildlines. Functionality guildlines include protection, movement, portability and comfort. Beauty guildlines include standard, good-looking, harmony. Differentiation guildlines include company differentiation, department differentiation, duty differentiation and rank differentiation.4) Illustrate color design methodology of medical uniforms. Include: background color usage, block color usage, natiional and cultural color symbol.5) Illustrate pattern design feathers of medical uniforms. Include: outer volume, inner volume such as cut line, collar, cuff, pocket, button and accessory. Present design principles of medical uniforms: fit traditional charactistics of medical uniforms; meet medical employees' needs on functionality and beauty; improve the outlook of medical uniforms; meet psychological needs of patients and medical employees; improve the protection functionality of medical uniforms.6) Summarize improvement suggestions of medical uniforms on functionality and beauty through investigation and interview. Design a series of medical uniform cases for one hospital. The design cases reflect the design principles of medical uniforms. The improvements include: cuff and waistband design; pocket design; uniform size extending; doctor trousers; fabric selection; differentiation design.This paper enriches the research area of medical uniform design as well as provides references for medical industry to standarize the costume.
