The Inheritance And Development Of Lu Embroidery Technology In Weihai Region

As one of the most important schools of Chinese embroidery, Lu embroidery has been everlasting and prosperous for thousands of years, which has become an indispensable practical article of technical art for so long a time, showing its strong and vigorous vitality. The topic has set Weihai region as the researching center, and extended its studying area to the district of Yantai and Weihai, for these two cities has belonged to one natural geographic unit. Historically speaking, the center of Lu embroidery should be in Yantai, but nowadays Wendeng city in Weihai region has become the developing center of Lu embroidery, and turned into a well-known city in China for technical home textile products, which resulted in the full development and innovation of Lu embroidery in this area. Owing to the particular position of Weihai region in the embroidery history in Shandong, we have to set the status and forming features of embroidery in Weihai as the basis of this paper, and strive to achieve new methods and new strategies to preserve and develop Lu embroidery technology.The topic mainly discusses the artistic inheritance and development of Lu embroidery from the aspect of Lu embroidery's background, developing process, technical features, weaving technology, existing situation, and modern Lu embroidery's application, as well as the aspect of glorifying reasons, practical nature, and prospect of Lu embroidery being a kind of insubstantial cultural heritage. The key points of the research are focused on the analysis of Lu embroidery's historical development and inheritance, its forming and styling analysis, and also the practical analysis of Lu embroidery's application in modern society.
