As one of the French existentialism philosophers in the twentieth century, Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) is an important representative figure of modern feminism. Her status in the history of feminist thought is established by The second sex. Beauvoir is also a famous writer productive of many works, and she described a number of live female figures in them, which demonstrates her concern for the female's destiny and embodies her feminist thought. In my opinion, both The second sex (the book that focuses on her theoretical feminist thought) and her novel concerning the female's destiny are all the important parts of her feminist thought. Therefore, I will summarize Beauvoir's feminist thought in The second sex and interpret the female figure in her novels so that I can analyze her feminist thought comprehensively. The thesis is composed of four main parts. The first part is about the Beauvoir's description of the female's situation. The second and third one is respectively on her view of the relationship between two different genders and of the relationship between the female. Last but not the least is to evaluate her suggestions on liberal women. The attached are the lists of Beauvoir's works and table of contents of The second sex .
