As one of the means of visual culture transmission, animated cartoon becomes more and more popular and in the meantime it gradually shows great appeal, affinity and impelling force to the audience. Animated cartoon is not only the text form of film and television art, but also the carrier of cultural inheritance. Under the trend of globalization, animation culture, which is becoming a widely accepted and used language and image, has been extensively spread all over the world and has a lasting and great impact on people's aesthetic taste, option of consumption, and the direction of development of culture. Animated cartoons, home and abroad, have survived and developed during the consistent process of exploring and researching; hence formed different animation culture with respective characteristics. China's animation culture has experienced three phases, namely glory, depression, and recovery; however, its function in culture transmission hasn't been brought into full play at present situation. This thesis focuses on the research of animation's internal function in culture transmission. From a mixed perspective of animation, culture and transmission, adopting some related theories of transmission study, culture study, cultural transmission study, and cross-cultural transmission study, this thesis makes comparisons between the different cultural styles and strategies in animation culture transmission of home abroad. Particularly, it interprets the national nature, modernity, survival, creativity, uniqueness and universality of the construction of China's animation culture; all the points mentioned above are aimed at constructing China's animation cultural image and enhance its culture influence.
