Boundedness Continuum And Four Associated Issues

This paper starts from four practical problems related with boundedness. Basing on the previous studies, combined with completeness of sentence, the writer establishes a verb continuum including " adequate unbounded verb", "inadequate unbounded verb","zero bounded verb","inadequate bounded Verb","adequate bounded Verb". Based on the continuum, following conclusions are drawn: (1)To some extent, boundedness is not a matter of privative opposition ,but gradual opposition.The investigation of a particular unit's boundedness should not be conducted on the base of minimal pair. Instead, the scientific method is to investigate in the continuum (2) In underlying cognitive level, the ability of completing sentence of Chinese verb is directly proportional to the level of boundedness.That is,the stronger the boundedness is , the bigger the ability of completing sentence of Chinese verb is (3) The covert of "le" and "zhe" are closely related to self-sufficiency of boundedness. This is the cognitive reason of " homogeneous compatibility"," homogeneous imcompatibility ". (4)There is internal differences in the structure of "V+zhe+Number Phrase". The collocation law for this structure is the following: if the number component semantically refers to the verb itself, this structure is ungrammatical due to boundedness conflict ; if the number component semantically refers to the object, the grammaticality of the structure depends. If the semantic collocation is in accordance with fact ,the structure is grammatical and vice versa;If the verb is about"relationship"or"attribute", the sentence can still be grammatical without the mark"zhe".
