Translation Project Report Of Story Of Your Life

This paper is a translation practical report, in which the object of translation is selected from Ted Chiang’s middle-length science fiction Story of Your Life, with a translation theory of Nida’s functional equivalence as the theoretical support. The translation report consists of four chapters, and the structure is as follows:1) translation project components, consisting of the background of the project, aim of the project, significance of the project and the report structure.2) The original text analysis, including introduction of the author, general information of the original text, analysis of the text and translation preparation.3) Translation difficulties and methodologies, including criteria of sci-fiction translation, difficulties in the process, translation theory which supports writer’s translation, translation strategies used in two editions accompanied with examples.4) Conclusion, including the experience gained and some problems to be solved. And the third part is the core of my translation report.
