The Research On The Status Of Linlanxiang In The Novels About Human Relationship

Linlanxiang is a living history of the development of novel situation that can not be overlooked in the works. First of all, "Linlanxiang" inherited a lot of art experiences from the novels before it. Mainly speaking, it inherited many merits from both Jinpingmei, which was the fist novel about human relationship, and the stories of talented scholars and beauties during the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. From this point of view, Linlanxiang summarized their experiences. Second, Linlanxiang innovated in many aspects and developed into a fresh style. Last, it affected the development of novels about human relationship, such as Fork-road lamp and A Dream of Red Mansions.The thesis is divided into seven parts.Part I: "the Introduction ".It summarizes the present research about Linlanxiang and narrates the aim of the thesis. That is, this thesis tries to discuss and summarize the significance and the position of Linlanxiang during the development of novels about human relationship.Part II: "the Experiences from Jinpingmei". Linlanxiang took many inspirations from Jinpingmei, such as the construction of the structure of the family, the use of narrative space, and the selection of minor things and pipsqueaks.Part III: "the Acception from the Stories of Talented Scholars and Beauties". This chapter consists of two parts. The first part discusses the stories of talented scholars and beauties had characteristics of poetry, both in the images, language characters, and living environment of figures, and they had showed poetic colors. "Linlanxiang" developed these poetic features. At the same time, it enhanced the reality of the work. The second part discusses that stories of talented scholars and beauties of this period elevated the position of affection, as well as caring for the life of women .All these factors had affected Linlanxiang.Part IV: "the Transcendence of Linlanxiang over Jinpingmei and Stories of Talented Scholars and Beauties ". The thesis mainly discusses that Linlanxiang learned from their predecessors in the art experiences and created a new artistic style. This chapter is made up of three parts. Linlanxiang showed its strong poetic features, such as the sentimental color and implicit art style; the means of artistic expression became more mature, particularly in the description of the environment and psychological aspects; Linlanxiang also further expanded the connotation of affection.Part V: "the Impact of Linlanxiang on Fork-road Lamp ".The thesis mainly explains that Linlanxiang had great impact on Fork-road Lamp, such as its purpose of writing, and the selection of polt patterns as well as practices in shaping the images.Part VI: "the Impact of Linlanxiang on A Dream of Red Mansions".A Dream of Red Mansions had sentimental and humanities colors. Its outcome of the tragedy usually moves readers to tears. To some extent, all these features came from Linlanxiang. Furthermore, from the use of props and even specific circumstances, we can find the impacts of Linlanxiang.Part VII: "Summary". Through the comparison Linlanxiang with some of the important novels about human relationship, we can find that Linlanxiang focused on absorbing the art of previous experiences. Moreover, it actively explored new art space and formed its own distinctive style. Its artistic style had also affected the later novels about human relationship and gradually led to the changes of these novels.To sum up, as a novel about human relationship in the early Qing Dynasty, it has created a distinctive art style .Further more, it had become a sign of that period. At the same time, its art style had great impact on later novels about human relationship. Linlanxiang not only led to the change of atmosphere of writing novels about human relationship, but also promoted their further development. Linlanxiang became a bridge between Jinpingmei and A Dream of Red Mansions at last. Therefore, we can draw a conclusion that as a novel about human relationship, Linlanxiang has a sense of meaning in summarizing and innovating.
