Being an important poet in the contemporary poetry history, Gu Cheng has established his status by his obscure poems. Because of his poems filling with some pure images, lively rhythm and romantic fairy tales, Gu Cheng is regarded as a "fairy-tales" poet. Comparatively, although his allegoric poems are meaningful and excellent, they are less important than his lyric poems the styles of the allegoric poems are entirely different after Gu Cheng went broad. Many of the allegoric poems in early period use the vivid and popular words to expound a truth in a story. These poems construct a nature harmonious rhythm and seep the author's exquisite imagination, which content criticize the reality, expose the people's weakness and satirize the author himself. The style of allegoric poems in later period is very different. He not only pursuit natural language and intrinsic rhythm, but also pay attention to the author's inner feelings instead of the reality. These caused his allegoric poems in later period difficult to understand, and reflect his own secrets. Other poems are full of ponder and contain philosophical truth. The change of allegoric poems in the two periods is related to the experience and the sprint of Gu Cheng. The significance on his allegoric poems is: on the one hand, it has historical value that people can understand Gu Cheng's creation and his inner world deeply. On other hand, it has style value to solve the problems such as lack of imagination, poor of creation and inane of content in allegoric contemporary poems.
