Social mobilization is an important element for the success of the revolution led by the CPC (the Communist Party of China). During its revolutionary practice in the Soviet Zone, The CPC sparkled the people's revolutionary enthusiasm through social mobilization, thus bringing a fresh force for the development of the revolutionary base. This thesis investigates the social mobilization in Xiang-gan Revolutionary Base to illuminate how the CPC mobilized the people into revolution in the Soviet Zone.Based on a large amount of archives, literature, memoir, this thesis studies that society-changing and human-refreshing revolution from multi-perspectives of history, political institution, anthropology and social psychology. It attempts to investigate the social mobilization in that particular historical period from a dynamic point of view.Taking as the theoretical basis for the social mobilization in the Xiang-gan Revolutionary Base revolutionary theories put forth by orthodox socialists like Carl Marx, Engels and Lenin, the CPC adopted suitable strategies and workable regulations to mobilize the people in coordination with civil revolutionary organizations, thus strengthening the Xiang-gan Revolutionary Base. As a matter of course, it is undeniable that there are many experiences to follow and lessons to learn from the social mobilization which merits serious study. In the face of the underdevelopment in the rural areas where the majority of the people were unenlightened, poor and weak and the 'terror strategy" adopted by the Kuomintang, the CPC had to conduct social mobilization to continue its military survival in the Soviet Zone. Only by bringing every possible force into play could the revolutionary base survive. Therefore, the success of social mobilization is the key to the surviving and thriving of the revolutionary base.
