As both a philosopher and a writer, Ayn Rand was and is very popular in America because of her objectivism, however, this is also due to her widely and hotly welcomed novels. On the other hand, her novels have extremely close relation with her philosophical ideas. Creation of ideal characters which means concretion of her philosophical ideas is the motivation and purpose of Ayn Rand.Basing on her two magnum opus: The Fountainhead & Atlas Shrugged, character creation is the main topic of this thesis. Firstly, there are respective analysis of the most important characters in two novels, namely, Howard Roark and John Galt. Chapter two is dedicated to analyze two key philosophical ideas showed by all the ideal characters, namely, rationality & selfishness. This is followed by analysis of the writing technique of creating the parasites who totally contrast with the ideal characters. At last, there is a discussion about the two major reasons why Ayn Rand chose to concrete her philosophical ideas through character creation.
