Ayn Rand’s Thought Popular And Study On Ethics

Ayn Rand is a well-known popular scholar and writer in America in twentieth century, but the differences between her and most of the western writers and philosophers are that she is not well-known by most of the Chinese readers. Due to her popular scholar status and the difference of her western cultural ideas, Ayn Rand’s thought never gains much attention in Chinese academic circles, thinking circles and cultural circles. However, her charm from her thought still exists so far, still is worth our learning and thinking, her once prevailing shows she is the representative chosen by the American culture in specific period, her deep and peculiar thought, along with some of her valuable thinking proposition have significant influence on the further studies.This article will carry on research into the thinking of Ayn Rand in terms of ethics. The introduction in chapter one first introduces the research background, research significance and the research current situation at home and abroad of this article; at last, it will indicate where is the innovation of this article.Chapter two does the research into Ayn Rand’s influence in her lifetime and her status in ethics thinking. It introduces her living in Russia at her early years and her circumstances when she moves to America afterwards. Though in Russia, she thinks only American society is the land of happiness full of freedom and thinking. Then it gives a general idea to her philosophy system, and indicates that the ethics has dominated in this system.Through analyzing the unique ideas of countertrend by her, Chapter three summarizes why the thinking of Ayn Rand is so popular combined with the special environment where she lives and through the respective exposition of her popularity in folk and in educational circle. Based on the lifetime, thinking origin and philosophy viewpoint of Ayn Rand introduced in this article, it gives an complete research and criticism into her objectivism ideas to make up the insufficiencies of the research at home and abroad.This article does the research into the ethics ideas of Ayn Rand from the viewpoint of collectivism ethics, a research viewpoint different from the research into Ayn Rand’s ethics ideas from abroad.
