As a special culture phenomena, dancing is a complex of cultural factors which can effectively reflect the typical status and modes of the nationality culture of China. Folk dancing is the mother of all the dancing forms. Folk dancing originates from the folk culture.Dai Nationality is the minor nationality located in the southwest area of China, whose cultural communication with the central China can date back to 2000 years ago. Dai Nationality has a long history and deep cultural background, which enables Dai Nationality to form a distinctive culture and provides abundant resource for the inspiration and development of the folk art of the dancing art of Dai Nationality during the long term commnunication with India nationality and Han Nationality. To conduct a thorough research on the folk dancing of Dai Nationality, we have to research on the cultural connotation.The remarkable motion nature, performance skill, application of the body language pertaining to the folk dancing of Dai Nationality is the expression of the deep and far reaching cultural connotation. It's not able to understand the true beauty inherently embodied in the dancing of Dai Nationality if we only put weights on the fantastic performance, delicate structure and the expression of the dancing with the negligence on the inherent cultural connotation. Therefore, when we are conducting a research on the folk dancing of Dai Nationality, the weight on the cultural connotation must be put.There are more than 20 kinds of the folk dancing of Dai Nationality, which are full of Sub-tropical nature on the aspects of motion, performance etc. The typical dancing form of Dai Nationality is "Peacock Dancing", "Elephant-foot Dancing", "Fish Dancing"etc. This paper has a deep analysis on the culture connotation, historical origin, the development and the legends of these dancing form when introducing the bacis information of these forms such as the motion character etc. On the basis of the aforesaid content, the paper mentioned the basic characters of the forms.Concerning the teaching of the folk dancing of Dai Nationality, the author holds an opinion as following: in the process of the teaching of folk dancing, the mere concern on the motion and skills of the dancing itself with the negligence on the inherent cultural connotation is not advisable, which will otherwise adversely affect the performance level and the cultivation of dancing art and even deteriorate the cutural continuance of the dancing art and will place an impediment into the formation of the folk dancing art. To avoid this, the teaching requires the culture connotation to be immersed into the specific teaching process. That is, when teaching the students how to dance, the teachers should also deliver the cultural connotation to them in order to perfect the knowledge system of the students. Only in this way can enable the cultural continuance of the dancing culture and develop the dancing art. By virtue of this theory, the author has come up with four teaching portfolio: analysing the dancing connotation, dating back the cultural background; analysing the dancing motion, knowing the regional culture; conducting the scene teaching, imersing into the culture; using the multi-media instrument and showing the cultural content directly.
