Research On Costume Art And Cultural Connotation Of The She Nationality In Fujian Province

As one of the minority nationalities, the She nationality has created colorful folk art and culture since ancient time, which embodies its own art charm and national culture. The unique national hair ornaments, costume styles and embroidery patterns of the She nationality consist of the particular national folk art form in southeast coastal areas of China. The costume of the She nationality is completely made by hand no matter material, sewing, embroidery and dyeing, all of which permeate both the natural aesthetic sense of people of the She nationality and the national culture of the She nationality. In its long history, the costume of the She nationality is not only the way to satisfy people's material needs but also the cultural symbol. It is the combination of unique totem religious belief, historical culture, national spirit, national culture and the harmony of nature and emotion. It reflects the individual differences in identity, occupation, status and role. At the same time, it indicates the development of economy, culture and other aspects of the She nationality. The costume art of the She nationality in Fujian province is famous for its nature of region and nation.The costume of the She nationality is greatly influenced by culture of Han nationality so that its national characteristics gradually become obscure. To make research and collect materials become comparatively difficult. In addition, there is no enough emphasis attached on the costume of this ancient nationality. Hence, there is also limited research on the art of the She nationality. Few researchers pay attention to the phenomenon that the costume of the She nationality is assimilated by that of the Han nationality.The object of this thesis is the costume of a tribe of the She nationality that is perfectly conserved. The paper aims to explore the close relationship between the formation and development of costume and the historical vicissitude and living environment of the She nationality. Meanwhile, the paper focuses on the hair style, hair ornaments, upper and lower garment, shoes, the pattern of embroidery of the costume and so on. The religious belief and totem worship of the She nationality which embody the national spirit and national culture are systematically investigated. In this sense, we can explore the living condition, aesthetic tendency, the features, and the historical trace of nation's development. It can not only provide new perspective for research on the art of the She nationality but also broaden the research field of costume of minority nationalities. At the same time, it provides some basic materials for the exploration, protection and heritage of the art of minority nationalities.
