Mr. Wu Guanzhong is one of the most famous artist of the 20th century. He plays important role in the development of mordern painting. He combines the western style of mordern art with the oriental mood of traditional Chinese painting. He puts forward the development of Chinese morder painting.Wu Guanzhong's aesthetic theory gives us much inspiration and possesses the significance of reference basing on experience of modern Chinese art, the attitude to traditional aesthetics and the openness.Undoubtedly, Wu Guangzhong' s aesthetic thought is very insignificant, but there is little research on it in China. This dissertation reveals the great vitality of Wu Guanzhong' s aesthetic. Wu Guanzhong' s aesthetic theory was neither the opposite to traditional art nor refuting idea of art generally but the opposite to the concept of art which traditional aesthetics imposed on art. Perhaps the concept of art of traditional aesthetics promoted the development of art by establishing the autonomy of art but today it was unfavorable to the development, even leading to the crisis of modern art. The sublation of art was a process as well as the progress of art. Wu Guanzhong was the first man who declared the obsolescence of the concept of art in traditional aesthetics.
