During the Anti-Japanese War, Ah Ying created eleven stage plays reflecting the amazing experiences in her life, among which historical drama occupied five. As a particular form of literature, historical drama specifically defined by its subjects and materials. Historical drama is an art of play, whose nature is the dramatic Characteristics. First of all, this article will analyze her five historical plays, always focusing on the "Analysis on Dramatic Characteristics of Ah Ying's Historical Plays". Next, it will emphasize on focal point research by intensive reading, in terms of the subject, character and reality, and it will aim to establish researches of reality analysis, so as to find out what are the dramatic characteristics. Finally, it will summarize the history of Ah Ying's historical plays and their artistic influence.This essay has constituted of three sections:Section One will observe aesthetical tastes of Ah Ying's historical plays and their subjects. Historical subjects include something unusual, but dramatic characteristic is their main aesthetical aspects. It appears as a unity of historical and temporal features, also a unity of ordinary taste, cross-time extension and popularity among audiences.Sections Two is going to discuss the dramatic characteristics about Ah Ying's historical plays and their characters. Core characters from those five plays will be introduced in the following aspects: certain historical life, dramatic situation of people's destiny, and dramatic effects aroused by dramatic conflicts of character's fate, as well as character construction in the conflicts.Section Three would like to convey the reality of Ah Ying's historical plays in three portions: drama contexts, drama structures and dramatic scenes, through which it can be seen that dramatic stage effects can be built up by literary description of a play.As a conclusion, this essay will sum up in four different ways (to educate people by history; to convince people by truth; to attract people by drama and to move people by emotions) that Ah Ying's historical plays generally have dramatic characteristics based upon history, which have presented artistic effects on readers and audiences, and contained profound literary values and significance of certain historical period.
