The Collation And Annotation On The Volume Of Yu Shi-Ju

Li Bin(1633-1722),who lived in San Tu,Kuo Nan Li,Gui County,Xun Zhou Seat,Guangxi,was a successful candidate in the ninth year of Kang Xi.He was awarded the Assistant of Cabinet,but he refused it firmly,and went back the countryside,and never served as an officer all of his life.Though beyond the official circles and in the countryside,he wasn't a man drift along who escaped of reality and cared nothing about the suffering of people.On the contrary,He was very elegant and composed,even will to try his best to help the common people.He had set the public organization with the town swains to resist the enemies and defend the town.When Yang Qi-qing,a bandit,aroused rebellion, and a large number of innocent people was arrested by the officials,Li Bin helped to check the situations and rescued nearly one thousand of people in all, and refused their gifts firmly,in which we can realize his courage and personal loyalty.To help people,he contacted with the officials,never for his private affairs.When requested for the epitaph of Libin,Xu Shu-ping,the Xue Zheng of Guangxi for a time,commended on him the only noble one of Qing Dynasty and the first regular people on southland.Li Bin did not hunt for being an official, but took care of the common people.His choice which was far from common conceptions reflected the unique pursuit of a part of traditional intellectuals to maintain their own integrity and seek no fame and wealth.Relatived to some Han Nationality's intellectuals who revolted or surrendered to the Qing Dynasty, he was a representative recluse between Ming and Qing Dynasty,which was worthy to research for later generations.Li Bin's poetries and articles had certain achievement,but nobody has collated and annotated it.On the base of comprehensive collation and annotation on his works,this paper try to research on Li Bin and his works together.The social thoughts of rejection between Manchu and Han which was turbulence and unrest had influenced on the content and form of his works and the thought course of his special life which reclused but did not refuse the world,sincerely obeyed the Confucianism and deep meditated in his works.And combining with the time background,personal interest and friend intercourse,to analyze the above infuence,to analyze his works'thought and artistic achievements and failure,this paper is helpful probably both to comment on Libin and his works and to understand the Confucian scholars' thoughts in Guang Xi and the condition of literature creation in that time.
