The difference between Modern Chinese and Thai' s word order is mainly reflected in modification-center structure. The relationship between the constituents of Modern Chinese modification-center structure is modification or restrictions. The front constituent modifies or restricts the behind one, so the front one is called modifier and the behind one center word. Thus in Modern Chinese the modifier is before the center word. The constituents of Modern Thai' s modification-center structure are similar to Modern Chinese' s, which contain the modifier and the center word. But there are some difference in these constituents of the two languages. In Modern Thai the modifier is behind the center word.As an important grammar item in Chinese, modification-center structure is one of the focus content that Thai students should master when they learn Chinese. Because the two languages are similar but different in this structure, it may do interference to the Thai students' Chinese learning. This article firstly analyses on the modification-center structure' s constituents and their relationships on the basis of former researches to give readers a general realization of the importance of modification-center structure in the two languages, and then focally contrast them. With analyzing on the errors of students when they are learning this structure, we give some advice for teaching. Through the contrastive research and analyzing the errors, we could discover some rules of them and give correct advice for teaching this structure.
