Objective:The aim of this study was to examine the reliability and the validity of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)using a new sample.Methods:1432 adults among 16-82 years-old from all over China were tested with the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. In order to estimate the test - retest reliability,127 of them were retested in 30 days. The split - half reliability and internal consistency reliability were examed based on a normative sample of the 1432 individuals. The reliability analysis included the Cronbach'sα,split - half reliability and the test - retest reliability. The validity analysis includes content and construct validity.Results:(1)Reliability test:The cronbach'sαcoefficients ranged from 0.63 to 0.87(P<0.01),the split - half coefficients ranged from 0.62 to 0.83(P<0.01),the test - retest coefficients ranged from 0.63 to 0.87 (P<0.01)(2)Validity test:Intercorrelation studies showed that the correlations among the subtest scores ranged from 0.11 to 0.56;Confirmatory factor analyses showed the scores of x~2/df,RMSEA indexes were 4.972,0.053,IFI,TLI,CFI indexes were above 0.90. Conclusions:(1)The research indicated that 20 years later the sample data had the significant difference with the 1981 sample.(2)The reliability was acceptable, and met psychometric properties.(3)The construct and concurrent validity were satisfying, which accorded with theoretical design.
