As one means of depicting characters, the dialogue in fiction is multifunctional and can be regarded as the most memorable part in fiction. This thesis is intended to study the fictional dialogue in a narrow sense the dialogue between characters in fiction, mainly in the form of direct speech within quotation marks.Being different from conversations in real life and dramatic dialogues, fictional dialogue has such characteristics as being idiosyncratic,socio-cultural and communicative and has important functions in revealing characters, progressing stories, attracting readers and revealing the styles of the fictionalists and their characters.Jane Eyre, written by the female fictionalist Charlotte Bront(?),is a novel abounding with feminist features in which the dialogues are of feminist features. The lifelike dialogue helps Charlotte Bront(?)to create various characters with their distinctive personalities;moreover,it serves as a weapon against inequality for the protagonist Jane Eyre. From the perspective of feminist translation studies, this thesis tries to conduct a comparative study on the dialogue translation between two translated versions of Jane Eyre:one translated by Zhu Qingying(female) and one translated by Wu Junxie(male). It begins with providing a brief contrast of their prefaces in which the two translators explained their understanding of the source text and outlined their own translation strategies. After that, the author compares the two translated versions from the feminist point of view on the dialogue translation in the novel Jane Eyre from the aspects of linguistic features and paralinguistic features. In terms of linguistic features, the female translator Zhu Qingying was apt to use the words indicating trenchant political standpoint such as "地位","平等",and "有权" to disclose the inequality between women and men in patriarchy society and to call for political rights for women. Moreover,Zhu Qingying was inclined to give prominence to the subject of the sentence so as to safeguard the female's discourse power. In terms of paralinguistic features, because of the identity of being a female and her sense of self-consciousness Zhu Qingying more felicitously delivered the tone of the source text than Wu Junxie did. Thus, she vividly exhibited the fortitudinous and rebellious heroine, maintained the feminine image of being self-love and self-respect and alleviated the male's language discrimination against female to a certain extent with the help of translating male's speech. Meanwhile, the author presents her renderings of some words and sentences on the dialogue translation of Jane Eyre under the guidance of feminist translation theories. The discussions provide us with a clear view of what translation effects the feminist translation approach will have on the dialogue translation in the novel of Jane Eyre. The author's application of feminist translation strategies leads her to draw the conclusion that only by consciously applying feminist translation strategies to the translation of works teeming with feminist features like Jane Eyre, can the meaning of the dialogues transmitted be closer to the original, language styles of the source text writers and their characters be better preserved, and the feminist features be more vividly reproduced as well.
