A Comparative Study On Three 1990s' Histories Of Chinese Grammar

Since Ma's Grammar published in 1898, the development of Chinese grammar is mere 100 years. It means that Chinese grammar is a young discipline, and the history of Chinese grammar, which studies on the formation, development and evolution of Chinese grammar, is undoubtedly a younger knowledge.This paper studies comparatively on three 1990s' histories of Chinese grammar, which mianly concerns in monograph, topic, discussion and several important issues about history of Chinese Grammar itself. We affirm the achievements of three histories of Chinese grammar, at the same time we will point out the shortages of the above important issues studied in three histories of Chinese grammar.As far as the inadequacies of History of Chinese grammar, the paper holds that we should properly deal with the following relationships:First, the relations between important articles and general articles.Second, the relations between monograph and paper.Third, the relations among Modern Chinese grammar, ancient Chinese grammar, dialect grammar and spoken grammar.Fourth, the relations between the subjective and objective.Fifth, the relations between grammar and other subjects.Sixth, the relations between teaching grammar and academic grammar.Seventh, the relations between macro and micro.Eighth, the relations between introductions and comments.Finally, the author point out the important aspects on writing a history of Chinese grammar as follows:First, strengthen the study of influential grammarian's ideas home and aboard.Second, strengthen the studies on the thematic history and the dating history, besides properly handle the relations among the general history, dating history and the thematic history.Third, value the reviews of the study achievements at all times and in all countries.Fourth, value the reviews of the study on Minority grammar, Taiwan syntax and abroad on the Chinese Grammar.Fifth, pay attention to grammar school history in the integrity of information.Sixth, value and strengthen the research on Chinese grammar assessment.
