The Chinese modern and contemporary Er-Hu art has developed for nearly one hundred years since Mr. Liu Tianhua composed the Er-Hu music work Chant in illness in 1915. After analyzing this century development, it can be concluded that the great achievements on Er-Hu made in modern and contemporary China, are closely related to the western music culture, especially the violin playing art, which has greatly influenced the Er-Hu development. This paper is aimed to search the practical proof that Er-Hu is influenced by violin art through recalling the century development of Er-Hu; furthermore, based on the current develop situation of Er-Hu, the author analyzes both the positive and negative influence of violin on Er-Hu; Finally, the author states his opinion that how to develop Er-Hu art stably and healthy in the new historical era, and how to find a best balance among inheriting the tradition, learning to absorb, and innovating, so as to create Er-Hu art with profound connotation, brilliance characters and reflecting the spirit of the times.
