An Experimental Study On The Grammatical Accent In Mongolian Sentences

The present study is an empirical work on Mongolian prosody, the purpose of which being to establish a basis for the study of the intonation of basic sentence types. The experimental analysis was based on the reading materials of the 100 basic sentence types, recorded by 3 female speakers. Basic intonation types were analysed using 3 female speakers 100 sentences. The main attention is paid to search for the possible correlation between (1) the grammatical accent and the acoustic features, (2) the grammatical accent and the accent in the carrier sentence s and (3) the grammatical accent and the lexical categories or syntactic phrases.
