This essay tries to find different humanistic concern from the literatures of Lu Yao and Tolstoy by analyzing the influence of their faiths, their cultural background and family background. Faith is one of the most important reasons which make their humanistic concern different. Tolstoy is a Christian and his humanistic concern is universal and ultimate. Lu Yao has no religion and his humanistic concern comes from the Confucianism, so his humanistic concern especially aims at his own social class. Although the extensions of their humanistic concern are different, the substances of their humanistic concern are same. Both of them paid great attention to the subsistence and the development of human being, and what is more, they concerned the personality and spirit liberation of human being very much. Of cause, Tolstoy thought more about humanity and the future of human being just because of the effect of his religion. We know that the most important tenet of humanistic concern is to save human being out of puzzledom and go to a new lease of life. Tolstoy found an ideal way for the poor. We know it as humanity, self-heart-searching and never fight against violence. But it never came true at his time and we could only say what a surrealism it was. But the influence of Tolstoy's thought was great and affirmative. Lu Yao was quite different with Tolstoy, and he found a realistic way for the farmers and they practiced and succeeded. Like Sun Shaoping and Sun Shaoan , Lu Yao himself carried out his dreams by hard work and bearing a lot of sufferings. Since he knew farmers and the ordinary people very well and always wrote his book by the experiences he got from true-life. So we are proud of Lu Yao's great achievement and we could say that Lu Yao did a better job than Tolstoy in the field of the realism of literature creation.
