Since the 1990s,the society has started a round vigorous reshaping heat of some literary classics. This reshaping of literary classics is mostly through adding new elements such as love element, modern element to its female parent. These newly reshaped texts clear up and overthrow the female's spirit and meaning. In view of this cultural phenomenon, this dissertation takes the modern and the contemporary literary classics as the object of study, and analyses the strategy of them in the context of the market economy. At the same time, the dissertation probes into the multidimensional value demand such as ideological, aesthetic and economic through the masses' different interest. This dissertation is divided into five parts and the concrete framework are as follows:Preface: bringing forward problems and the definition of the concept. This part puts forward the cultural issues which is triggered by remodeling literary classics in the 1990s. At the same time, this part explains the meaning of the "Literary Classics" and "New Stories".Part One: "dissemination heat of the literary classics and interest different". It mainly introduces the phenomena of dissemination heat of the literary classics and the comments on the incident. These literary classics are remade by various forms: teleplay, fiction, drama, opera and so on. People display their different cultural attitude: some of them oppose this cultural phenomenon and some approve it.Part Two: "the distortion of these literary classics". The current context is introduced first. Because of the impact of market economy, the literary classics are no longer the worship object, they become the consumable. Then, the part analyses the market strategy of these literary classics: avoiding eminence and consuming history, writing entertainment and consuming sensibility, embezzling discourse and cultural debris.Part Three: "the multidimensional value demand behind the distortion of the literary classics". This part analyses the multidimensional value demand through people's different attitude towards the cultural incident——the mainstream ideology's cahoot and stipulation, the elite intellectuals' criticism and rejection. The purpose of the mainstream ideology is designing national culture self—identity and the purpose of the elite intellectuals is defending their cultural resources and scrabbling for the cultural capital. Conclusion: the thinking about the future direction of the literary classic's reshaping. This part involves the author's attitude towards the literary classic's remodeling and suggestion. This dissertation considers that the literary classic can be reshaped according to different era, as it is an important way to ensure that our traditional culture distillation can be handed down generation by generation. But it is worth noting that we can't blindly cater to the masses' interest. At the same time, the author also puts forward proposals to the literary classic's future reshaping.
