The Dynamic Study On State Adjective In Modern Chinese

In modern China, state adjective is the most characteristic, whether from the syllable structural form, the rhythm characteristic, or from the syntax function. The most essential nature of state adjective is of"extent quantity". Many language scholars concentrate the state adjective of academic research on the static analysis and describing. Only Shao Jingmin and Wu Lihong have been involved in dynamic study of state adjective to some extent, but not extremely in detail. This paper centers on studying all state adjective of the Modern Chinese Dictionary (fifth edition), through analyzing and comparing the collocation of the state adjective and different level degree adverb, from the perspective of network language combining text corpus of Peking University CCL corpus. In order to summarize the personality characteristics and laws of collocation between state adjective and different level degree adverb, reveal the development and changes of state adjective and explore the reasons for the changes. This paper includes five parts:The first part, the introduction, which outlines the present research situation and inadequacy of state adjective, summarizes the significance of this paper. Regarding state adjective, language scholars'research mainly concentrates on the static analysis, and less on its dynamic change. This paper , mainly beginning with collocation between state adjective and degree adverb, is to discover the development,change and reason on the quantity characteristic of state adjective, and make people be further understanding of dynamic change of state adjective.The second part, describe the main features and the classification of state adjective in "Modern Chinese Dictionary" (fifth edition). The major characteristics of state adjective are of quantity and subjectivity, and these two characteristics will affect state adjective matching with degree adverbs. In addition, state adjective is divided into two-syllable state adjective, three syllables state adjective and four syllables state adjective according to the syllable structure. The search results of the next chapter show that the three different syllables structure of state adjective are of different ability which matching with the degree adverbs.The third part, make research into state adjective of the "Modern Chinese Dictionary" (fifth edition) matching with the different level degree adverb in the network language one by one. We take the search result of the realistic corpus of Baidu net and People net, simultaneously combine the search result of Peking University CCL corpus, and then compare the using of state adjective in "A Dream of Red Mansions". Thus, it is clear that state adjective which can be modified by degree adverbs are increasing, from ancient to the modern and contemporary Chinese literature, and then to the brightest network language. This shows that the most essential attribute of state adjective is changing, the quantity characteristic is gradually weaken, and so it is the trend that the restraint which state adjective not modified by adverbs is gradually broken loose from.Part IV, summing up the law that degree adverb modify state adjective, and explore the causes for this change.Law: The frequency that the typical state adjective are modified by the degree adverb is less than that of non-typical state adjective. Because state adjective is of high level quantity, so that it is more than low level degree adverb that above the middle level of Adverbs modify state adjective. State adjective is of subjective, so state adjective is more modified by the degree adverbs of subjective form; It shows a trend that high-volume, high-frequency words extend from quantity point to quantity rate.Motivation: Generally, language scholars thought that state adjective couldn't be modified by degree adverbs because of its quantity characteristics. But the study found that more and more state adjective can be modified by degree adverbs, we think the motivation that result to the change have three: high frequency using of state adjective cause the semantic word wear, at the same time in order to meet the needs of formation. The changes in cognitive psychology of people result to express their demands much more refined. In addition, there are analogizes role on the rhythm.Part V, conclusion. It summarizes the article's major points. In this paper, we take the method that static description unifies dynamic induction to analysis state adjective dynamic development and take state adjective matching with degree adverb as the beginning spot. The using of state adjective matching with degree adverb are gradual increasing, especially in the network, and there are very strong laws, which show that state adjective is undergoing changes, the most notable change is the essential attribute—quantity characteristics have gradually weaken.
