Simile is an important artifice in the expression, and also an emphasis in rhetoric figures.This thesis is under the guidance of Contrastive Linguistics theory, making the diachronic and synchronic contrast of simile in Chinese and Thai, then research the cause of society and culture formation on the background of linguistics. This paper makes an diachronic contrast on the study of simile firstly, discussing about the development and actuality of simile in Chinese and Thai. The simile theory in Chinese is being developed more hoary and plenty than in Thai, but the recognition of connotation on simile in these two language exerted respectively is consistent basically. And then, this paper makes a synchronic contrast on the types of simile. The types are almost the same in the two language, but the compartmentalized tupes are different, because the difference in the rhetoric acrossed using and the point of review. Chinese and Thai make words from simile. We contrast about the phrase in Chinese and Thai, and found that simile is an important expressive form in phrase, and this form is more useful in Chinese ,we can find many types, including idiom, Xiehouyu and proverb. Through the examples, we find that because of the sameness and difference in the contemporary debate, the cultural conception, the social historical and cultural backgrounds, the religious belief, the natural geographic environment, the simile also have sameness and difference in Chinese and Thai. For the purpose of exact and concinnity, we should use different ways of translation on the basis of the difference in the similes. If applying the Chinese-Thai simile study into the teaching, the students could make simile sentences according to the types and configurations, they would improve their appreciatory ability on simile, and ues simile self-consciously and exactly when talking and writing.
