Simile is an important component of rhetoric, and also a necessary way to enhance the artistic effect of language expression. This thesis makes the diachronic and synchronic contrast of simile in Chinese and Japanese under the guidance of Contrastive Linguistics,Cognitive psychological and Aesthetic Theory. As well as research the cause of social and cultural factors behind linguistics.First of all, this paper makes diachronic contrast on the research of simile in Chinese and Japanese, carrying out illustration on stages of simile development and major achievements of every stage. Despite the different time and different stages of simile in Chinese and Japanese, the development trajectory is almost the same.Then it makes synchronic contrast on the research of simile in Chinese and Japanese, carrying out analysis and comparison of the composition and classification of simile in Chinese and Japanese. Because of the similarity and difference of the entire human language, the components and classification of simile in Chinese and Japanese also have similarity and difference.In the end, by many examples this paper shows that: the creation of simile also have sameness and difference in Chinese and Japanese, because of the sameness and difference in the cultural conception,geographic environment,social historical and cultural backgrounds religious belief,custom and so on.
