Literature and region have very close relationship. In a certain sense, the development of literature mostly benefits from the riches and multiplicities of the regional cultures. And the regional cultures have significant influence on the occurrence and development of literature. The regional cultures influence literature from the following factors: firstly, it is an aesthetic emotion which is expressed through the regional landscapes (such as the mountains, the climate and the beautiful sceneries of four seasons) by the writer; secondly, it is the cultural meaning precipitated in the writer's works through the humanistic landscapes such as the folk customs and traditions, the dialects and patois, traditional anecdotes. As we all know, a writer who lives in a special region will consciously or unconsciously store experiences, feelings and comprehensions to the regional cultures in his or her inner heart. When he or she creates works, his subjective consciousness naturally bases on the foundation of the specific region culture, and he or she explodes and expresses the cultural structures, natural landscapes, the folk customs and faiths, the values and so on in this specific region. In the end of 70's of the 20th century, Nie Zhenning began marching into the literary arena, he had selected the specific regional and cultural background of the northwest native land of Guangxi to construct his own artistic world, and he enthusiastically wrote the unique sceneries, local customs and traditions in the northwest of Guangxi. His works vividly displayed the old and natural existence, such as the Red river, the great mountains, the dark forests, the underground rivers and the other places; at the same time, the works also demonstrated the living creatures and colorful folk customs on this ancient land. The sincere and plain art pursuit, the fresh writing style and the warmth tone of Nie Zhenning's works almost were inflected by the regional cultures in the northwest of Guangxi. In the mean time, it was because he insisted on writing native cultures and directed the artistic antenna towards his attached and familiar cultural soil of his native that he created unique works which contained far-reaching connotation.
